North Road Widening – Maximizing Mobility During Guideway Construction
One of the key Evergreen Line early works projects is the widening of North Road, adding a lane to the west side of this important traffic corridor. The road widening between Gatineau Avenue and Cottonwood Avenue is in preparation for construction of the Evergreen Line guideway up the centre of the road. The new permanent lane on the west side will help minimize traffic disruption during guideway construction. After construction is complete, the new lane will replace the lane taken up by the guideway.

Power Supply Upgrade – Installation of New Underground Power Lines
The installation of new underground BC Hydro power lines is one of the first in a series of construction activities to take place along the Evergreen Line route to prepare for major construction of the tunnel and guideway. This work is taking place in Port Moody and Coquitlam until June 2012.
Concrete duct bank casings will be installed in an excavated trench and BC Hydro will run power lines through these ducts. The power supply lines are required for major construction and for the operation of the Evergreen Line.

Evergreen Line Rapid Transit Project
The Evergreen Line is a new rapid transit line that will connect Coquitlam to Vancouver via Port Moody and Burnaby. The Evergreen Line will be a fast, frequent and convenient SkyTrain service, connecting Coquitlam City Centre through Port Moody to Lougheed Town Centre in approximately 15 minutes. It will connect without transfer to the current SkyTrain network at Lougheed Town Centre Station and will integrate with regional bus and West Coast Express networks. The Evergreen Line will be in service in summer 2016.
The Evergreen Line will relieve congestion, improve air quality and link Port Moody and Coquitlam to the current SkyTrain system. Over 8,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created during construction.
